A 10 X 42cm, six page colour concertina zine with B&W text on a paper belt held in place by a black or gold circle sticker

Created for you

Into neat compartments, rarely falls, a zine or print or exhibition of ours. Rather, ‘it’, whatever ‘it’ may be, appears, in various guises, in pieces. Dotted here and there, a green leaf bouquet, a leopard’s spots, an eagles’ aerie. A tail from a print, a top for a zine, and so the story goes, imagery hops from one field to another, making things tricky to categorise. All this is somewhat reminiscent of the chicken and egg mind-fuddle: where did the thread begin? Where will it end?

And so, we have for you, a new print to share. Created especially for Rona Green’s newest print exchange, Imaginings, our collaged print, Not my sky (exhibit A), replete with a reading niche beneath a pair of Griffon vultures. It also appears in our newest zine, Take a lesson from the ground, which features five additional collages, reproduced at a scale to fit in your pocket or wallet or in between the pages of your current read. Little is confusing there, I hear you muse. A zine on the heels of a print and the companions created at the same time, that’s just a series, isn’t it? But the printed series in the zine is the squat version of four prints created for our work in The Confessional, currently at Mailbox Art Space. And so, dear friends, you will see, that the zine is comprised of both a print for Rona Green and variations of four collages for The Confessional reconfigured to make five.

All is interwoven, and related, yet capable of standing alone.

The Confessional closes on Saturday the 2nd of December, at Mailbox Art Space, Melbourne.

Imaginings opens on Saturday the 2nd of December, at Neospace, Collingwood.

The prints at Mailbox Art Space, together with their seaweed collection, will move from postal nook to the walls of Port Jackson Press Print Gallery as part of their Summer Impressions exhibition, which runs until Sunday the 28th of January, 2018.

Take a lesson from the ground is available through our online store, accompanied by Louise’s newest in her museum series, Seasonal museum sketches (autumn).

Have fun playing spot the difference.

Beneath the stack of a Griffon vuture’s rock nest, a niche in which to read. Beneath the dome of a blue plastered sky, something akin to nature. In our adapted environments, some, but in no way all, of the things we require, if you ignore the creatures on the other side of the glass.

In our image, freedom is reconfigured in exhibit A.
