Tawny owls

Contemporary Paper: Celebrating a Year of Print

Tawny Owl (Strix aluco)
Gracia Haby & Louise Jennison
2016
Woodblock engraving, unique state collage with pencil and paint additions on Fabriano Artistico 300gsm traditional white hot-press paper
Edition of 15

"I like you because your tu-whit tu-who merry note resides in Shakespeare's 'Love's Labour's Lost.' I could be talking about the Tawny owl (Strix aluco); I could be talking about you."

Extending on the work we created as part of Animal Instinct at Metropolis Gallery and our artists’ book, Because I Like You, Louise and I have created a new pairing for Port Jackson Press Gallery’s forthcoming exhibition, Contemporary Paper. Looking into the mirror, this time around, a Tawny owl under Shakespearean mantle as lemonwood engraving and collage.
